Physically There, Mentally Trapped

This week, we’re talking about the severity of mental health problems in classrooms. More specifically, we’re focusing on how these issues can be treated or accounted for to ensure that students with mental illnesses can learn in the best conditions they possibly can. I decided to focus on a type of anxiety called “Social Anxiety Disorder”. I made a Google Slide on this disorder, which you can see below. As a future educator, I must work to educate myself on mental health issues I could come across with students in our future classrooms. The thing about mental illnesses is that they can take someone’s mind and be extremely distracting, especially in the learning environment. This is where my knowledge about mental health issues would come in. I would be able to assist my students further by making them feel seen, feel like they matter, and find ways to better deal with these issues so they will succeed in my class.
